A Swamp Hut for Inspiration

You really have to see this structure. It is so full of character and texture. The structure is a inspirational piece. One that I might have to mimic someday.

I Patched a Couple of Holes on the Roof

We know sooner moved our gear into the shed, when we realized that we had a leaky roof.

We patched the wholes with some aluminum sheets. Hopefully that takes of the problem.

Versatile Material

And should I add free material

I typically use this corrugated material for corrugated structures and roofs. However, after studying the material, with the right colors and treatments it could also be used for terrcotta and wood shake shingles.

A Storage Shed in 1/87 has been Completed

Here is another small shed made from "card stock". I did use wood sticks to shore the strucure up on the inside and I did use foamcore for the foundation.

The supply or storage shed measures a scale 9' all around and stands a scale 12' tall at its peak. Plenty of room for storage of whatever.

Satisfaction Scale: 3 out 5.

Althouogh I have two more structures on the drawing board for this year, this will be my last project like this one for a while and while I might slip another structure in there I want to experiment with other scales and types of projects.

Using Carriage Bolts as Weights

Here I have used the carriage bolts to hold the roof down on the building untill the glue is throughly dry. I have used these carriage bolts before for weighing something down while it dryed, but I never thought of using these bolts in this fashion before.

When glueing down roofs on my structures I never have enough patience to wait until the glue sets. Even though I use a fast acting glue it still takes more time then I am prepared to wait.

The Dark Knight Series

The Bat: HDG89

The Bat is one of five in the Dark Knight series. The series includes Batmobile, The Batman Batmobile, Cool-One, and the Gazella GT. The “Bat” is a futuristic flying vehicle and resembles some sort of beetle more then it does a bat. That being said it does have some sleek lines and armaments.

Androids are Everywhere

Screenshots are from Star Wars II.

Androids are everywhere in Star Wars episoids II and III and are featured allies of the Empire.

It is a real treat to see all of these machines moving around, relatively autonomously.

Star Wars III features even more of these little critters.

Small Wagons

Screenshot is from "All Quiet on the Eastern Front".

I am assuming this tank car is of WWI French Design, but it could be from Germany. It might have been used to carry mustard or some other type of gas to the front.

My Intermittent Collecting of Hot Wheels Vehicles

Hot Wheels HDL89 Zorg Character Car

This vehicle is one of six in this Hot Wheels/Disney Pixar LightYear mini series which includes the following character cars: Zurg, Zyclops, Space Ranger Alpha Buzz LightYear, Izzy Hawthorne, Sox, and XL-01 Buzz LightYear.

Matching its Zorg character it is colorful, multi-toned vehicle and if I care to use in my Gas Lands battles, it is equipped with three barrel cannon.

Another Corrugated Shed

In 1/87, a scale drawing of my next HO structure. After this I believe I will be moving on to something different.

Odd corrugated material I used for my last structure.

Another Wall-E Miniature

Some assemble required.

Lots of parts, build sub-assemblies. It should all be so easy.

Everything is neatly packaged.

I found this Wall-E model on Temu, as I have found all kinds of goodies here lately

A Corrugated Privy in 1/87

Here is the completed structure I had been working on, a corrugated outhouse. I haven't decided what color I want to paint the structure.

Although I used wood to sure it up it is made from one business card and was clad using some odd corrugated material.

The structure measures a square four feet and stands nine feet at its peak.

Hobby Knifes with Ten Blades

A hobby knifes with ten blades for under a USD. The knife comes with two different knife blades and as you can see they come in different colors. I found these on a site called TEMU. TEMU has all sorts of products and all are reasonably priced. I have made several purchases and they were shipped and recieved promptly.

Experimenting with Pyramid Roofs

I completed this structure sometime ago. There was a time when I was experimenting with pyramid roofs. This was constructed totally from card stock and was to be a small smoke house. To the right is one of my cardboard trees.

This photo gives the structure a better view in that you don't see how crooked the roof sits on top of the sturcture when you view it from the front.

Satisfaction Scale: 2.5 out of 5.

A Standard Shed Reimagined

There really is just so much you can do with one business card. Roof and exteria walls are definitely not in the mix, so I have added corregated material, the material I mentioned some time ago. The material represents corrugated materail pretty well, but is a bit odd in appearance. Just the type of material I like to work with.

In Small Dimensions - Business Card Structures Challenge

Strictly speaking the whole structure should be built from one business card. A business card measures 14.5H by 25.5L, in HO scale. You can build something smaller, but if you planning on building a small shack like an outhouse or shed, to have enough materials for the walls and sub-roof you will have limit your structures width to approximately four foot wide. And to have some material leftover for some trim you have to limit your height to nine feet.

The structure would be modeled as a simple board on board structure. Individual boards can be scored into the surface and nail holes and board ends can be added to each board. Using a verity of methods I have tried to add wood grain to the individual boards. This works only if you are carefull not to go too deep into the cardstock. I still wasn't happy with the outcome and I don't believe this was worth the effort.
