This blog is mainly a place where I can record my current interests. It is also a place where I can showcase my current projects, obtain inspiration, keep track of suppliers, and the many other little things that make-up who I am and what I am presently about.

A sailor is brought up with a catch of fish and he posseses the journal of Ponce de León. This mysterious phenomena and the possession of the journal made the king of Spain order three ships to investigate the report of Ponce de Leon having found the fountain or youth.
In serach for the sivler chalices, Jack Sparrow finds Ponce de Leon's ship teetering upon rocky fissure.

A little over of a week ago I made a post on my review of Tim Power’s On Stranger Tides. I mentioned that On Stranger Tides was the inspiration for Disney’s Pirates of the Caribbean: On Stranger Tides. Disney’s On Stranger Tides makes use of the Powers use of magic, and although there are a few other similarities the Disney film diverges its own course.
The pirate, Black Beard figures prominently in both stories. In Power’s On Stranger Tides Black Beard is in command of Adventurer, toward the end of the story and his life. Having taken over the body of another human being he in effect is reincarnated.

Squirt is a brave and spirited sea turtle, one the many characters in this Disney’s Finding Nemo animation. This figure is approximately two and half inches long and is cast from PVC.
When Maleficent does not get invited to Aurora's christening ceremony she becomes livid and puts a curse on the princess Aurora. Mayhem ensues! This Disney Sleeping Beauty character stands approximately three inches tall and is cast from PVC. One of Maleficent’s curious qualities is her ability to change into a dragon.

Having to travel through the area of the ocean where the mighty kraken existed the Nautilus was inadvertently attacked by a kraken. The kraken presumably mistook the Nautilus to be a whale of the species that it would typically assail.

Discharging an electrical current to the outside of the submarine only temporally deterred the kraken’s attack on the Nautilus and it was back on the Nautilus with multiple tentacles. Having burned out the electrical discharge circuit the Nautilus comes to the surface of the ocean during a tempest, to battle the monster with axes and grappling hooks.

Several men were either injured or lost during the battle that ensued. It wasn’t until Ned Land the renowned harpooner hit the kraken in one of its eyes did the kraken withdraw.
It has been a while since I made my last post on Captain Nemo’s Nautilus Submarine. Over the holidays I watched Disney’s Twenty Thousand Leagues Under the Sea for the sole purpose of taking some screenshots of the Nautilus. Back in March of 2014 I made a post on the Nautilus where I mentioned how Disney’s rendition of the Nautilus seems to be the most popular version purported in popular culture.
Here are a few of the screen shots of the Nautilus.

Last month I made a post on the Pirates of the Caribbean Wiki-Davy Jones, where I mentioned that Davy Jones was the captain of the Flying Dutchman, a mystical ship that first appeared in Pirates of the Caribbean’s Dead Man's Chest.
Recently I came upon this gallery of the Crew of the Flying Dutchman where it describes some of the crew of this infamous ship. If the persona of Davy Jones wasn’t enough to give you the creeps the rest the crew is sure to push you over the edge.
I just purchased two hard copied books from my local library. They had been out on the cart in the libraries lobby waiting to be purchased. I found a hard copy of Twain’s “Adventures of Tom Sawyer” and a soft copy of “That Darn Cat”, by the Gordans. I have read the former a few times already; it is one of those books I like to read from time to time. The other I haven’t read, but did see the movie as a child by the same name which was produced by Walt Disney Movies. The film was produced in 1965 and starred Hayley Mills and Dean Jones. The story is a light-hearted movie about a cat who becomes a secret agent and blows the cover on a couple of bank robbers who are holding a bank tellers hostage.
The two volumes will be added to spring 2013 reading list.
