Proxie Models Ruined Building Assembled and Painted

It is nice to have something to post, even when I had hoped to have gotten further with my cleaner bot and although I did cut several strips for my windows, I never got to build one. Perhaps next month I will having something to post on these projects.

View 1, Proxie Models, painted and weathered. They are marketed as 15 to 20mm Ruined Buildings.

View 2, Proxie Model Ruined Building. They were very easy to build and I had fun painting and weathering them. They will make great scenery pieces.

My Paint Drawer-Small Projects

You will find a bit of everything here, even some small unpaited specimens. The small three drawed cabinate sits on the corner of my work bench.

I took out three castings, but only got to fiddle with following two. The first is a casting that came from Rusty Rail. I didn't see it listed in the current listings. It was included in a set of three castings: the coal bin, two barrels sitting on a rickety bench, and a rack full of pipes, which I sort of remebering painting.

This casting needs a couple more passes.

This bloke came with four compadres all iching for a fight. He stands approximately 32mm tall and will someday be used interchangeably on a small O-guage model train layout. He still needs a couple more passes of the paint brush.

I don't usually like using the camera flash, but perhaps it might have helped make these last two images a little more vibrant.

Dr. Totenkopf's Robots

Blue print of a robot found in the journal of Dr.Totenkopf.

These robots were sent out to retrieve materials for the Dr's "ark", a spaceship being sent to start a new world.

These specimans were sent out like the others to pick up materials for the Dr's mission.

Building Parts for Subassemblies

I used an circle inking template to lay six circles out on a 1mm thick piece of scrap styrene. I don't believe I will use more than four of these, but I thought that it may not be wise to cut a coupe of spares.

I used the tin cutters to rough the circles out and the flat file to complete the process.

Dr. Chandra’s Interview with the Rebooted HAL 9000

“‘Good Morning, Dr. Chandra.’
‘Hal, are you capable to resume your duties?’
‘Of course. I am completely operational and all my circuits are functioning perfectly.’
‘Then do you mind if I ask you a few questions?’
“Not at all.’
‘Do you recall a failure of the A.E. 35 antenna control unit?’
‘Certainly not.’

This is like tiptoeing through a minefield, thought Floyd, as he patted the radio cutoff. If that line of questioning triggered another psychosis, he could kill Hal in a second.

‘You do not remember either Dave Brown or Frank Poole going out to replace the A. E. 35 unit?’
‘No. That could not have happened or I would have remembered it.’
‘Where are Frank and Dave?’
‘Don’t worry, Hal – I will explain everything later.’"

2010 Odyssey Two Mission Objectives

"The objectives of your mission are, in order of priority:

  1. To proceed to the Jovian system and rendezvous with US Spacecraft Discovery (UNCOS01/283)
  2. To board this spacecraft to obtain all possible information relating to its earlier mission
  3. To reactivate Spacecraft Discovery’s onboard system and if propellant supplies are adequate, inject the ship into Earth return trajectory
  4. To locate the alien artifact encountered by Discovery, and to investigate to the maximum extent possible by remote sensors
  5. If it seems advisable, and Mission Control concurs, to rendezvous with this object for closer inspection
  6. To carry our a survey of Jupiter and its satellites, as far as this is compatible with the above objectives"

2010: Odyssey Two

2010 Odyssey Two, Arthur C. Clarke, 1968

When I found a copy of Arthur C. Clarke's 2010 Odyssey Two I knew I had to read "A Space Odyssey 2001" first. 2010 Odyssey Two endeavors to answer the many mysteries that A Space Odyssey 2001 left us to ponder.

Building Windows

Another item I would like to get to this month is building a few scale windows. I have built a few windows for my HO structures and up to this point I haven't been too happy with the resuts, so I would like to experiment with different window styles and building techniques.

Should I create them from cardstock, plastic, or wood? I want to use the correct type of window for the building material, such as wood, brick, or concrete. I would also like to review the different types of windows used in different eras.

In Preparation for a Cleaner Bot

There is a good chance that I won't use all of these components in my "cleaner bot", but when planning a new project I start assembling possible parts from my collection of greeblies.

My collection of greeblies is quite extensive however, if I don't have what I need I can create some of my own.

I can start with a bit from my collection or use bits from my leftovers or grab something from stock.

Shed at Creek

This page depicts new additions to Marcel Ackle's layout, or at least what I believe is Ackle's model train layout. The shed and small bridge were my main focus, however Ackle models terrain with just as much enthusiasm.

The Robot Zoo Bat

The Bat is not one of my favorites. It does not provide any interactive features and nor does demonstrate very much animation. However, it was a willing subject.

Bats are one of natures more unique creatures. I flying mammal that uses a form of sonar to hone in on its prey.
