In this short video the author takes you through the process of adding rivets to his armored panels. Although he is adding these to his Gas Lands vehicles, the same technique could be used wherever you wanted to add rivets.
The user used a ball point pen to emboss the material, but one could use an object that has a smaller diameter, such as the tip of a tooth pick.
I have to say I wasn't impressed Jan - if you use a yellow-barrel Bic you get a finer rivet, if you press onto heavy-card backing you get a better depth, he needed to keep the pen upright and not wiggle it (hold it at 90% and tap it with a paint tin or something!) and why the faffing about with a backing card and folds? Just cut a piece of foil to shape and apply it as a sheet - like the real thing! Also, using the bowl of a spoon will flatten a big piece in half the time. Sorry, it's an old technique, but he's possibly not the best practitioner of it? But that's just me being awkward!

ReplyDeleteThank you for the addendum. I do appreciate your comment.
Beh! Just me being a grumps! Tell you what I did note from the vid', that he strips the cars back to bare metal all over; painting over the chips always makes them look worse, so that makes sense!
