More Creepy Hero Studios greeblie. You can never have too many greeblies.
This blog is mainly a place where I can record my current interests. It is also a place where I can showcase my current projects, obtain inspiration, keep track of suppliers, and the many other little things that make-up who I am and what I am presently about.

Hunting for Materials for your Next Project?
If you keep am open mind you can find useful materials just about everywhere. Although I am trying to keep the clutter from getting out of hand I hold on to a lot of different materials. I may not know how or when they might be used, but as long as I don't have too many and have some where to store them I will put the materials aside.

Scratchbuilding Industrial Greebles
Greeblies can be created from any type of material. In this clip the author used bits of styrofoam to create several industrial greeblies.

New Greeblies for Future Projects
I prefer to manufacture my own greeblies when I can, but special shapes can become hard and time consuming to create. The prices at CreepyHero Studios are economical and their offerings are full of detail, crisp and clean.

Greeblies Add Complexity to an Object
I am trying something a little different and am instituting themes this month. My first theme for this year will greeblies 1
As you can see greeblies can be bits of polystyrene that are cut and arranged on the object meticulously.
1 Greeblies are small relief details used to improve visual appeal and add complexity to a model.

Detail Scribing and Greeble Creation Kit
I haven't decided on how I may use these tools. Whether I will use primarly for scribing or some of both. I do enjoy creating my own greeble and the templates will make it a bit easier to create more intricate pieces.

Save those Sprue Bits
It is not everyday that I find bits on a plastic sprue that are perfect for greeble. I don't have a clue as to how I may use these small cyliders of plastic, but if a need arrises I now have them in inventory.

Construction of a (Hitch-Hiker's Guide To The Galaxy) Vogon Spaceship
The build of the Vogon Spaceship as invisioned by the author, was fascinating to watch.

Another Scratch Built Detail
Creations and materials. It is often from the small bits that my inspirations come from.
Over the years I have created many scratch built or kit bashed detail parts as needed or just on a whim.
A roof air conditioner in 1/87 scale. I few bits of plastic, metal, and left-over kit parts.

Material Organization - Plastics - By Type & Color
How else would you organize these byte-sized bits except by type or color.
Remembering, a greebly can be and usually are created from something larger. A corner, a tip, a rectangle, or god knows what else.

Found - Greebles
I found this greeble at a spot I call my greeble field. I have found quite a few pieces at this spot and usaully after a good rain. This one is made from a bendable type of plastic. I have no plans for this item at this time and it will thrown into my greeble collection.
My partner found this one on the floor in our den. Neither one of us have any idea where it might have come from. It is made of a very thin plastic.

Greebles & Structural Bits
Recently I have been organizing my scratch building materials. Getting down to my small materials I have picked these out either to be used in upcoming projects or to store them with similar materials.
This mix is made up mostly plastic bits, however there are a materials of other types as well. There are two disks I created to top plastic tubing, micro rod, some kit parts, a piece or two of kit sprue, parts from a pen assemble, and some random plastic bits I picked-up from somewhere. Some of these bits may be used just as they are or they may be reduced and only used in part.

Greebles?
Every spent plastic item may have some use, perhaps not the whole, but perhaps there might be some usable bits that can be extracted.
I have no idea where these bits might come in handy. I will throw them into the bin and await an opportunity to make use of them.

Buildable and Greeble Bits, Collection #2
This is greeble container #2 and is comprised mostly of my homemade greeblies.
In the top far left there are some red specks that were recently created by cutting a leftover section of red tubing into small ovals. There are also some small bits of polystyrene strips. To the right are some bits I cut from plastic bread ties, and to the right of thaese are a collection repurposed HO gauge locootive detail parts that are still on the sprue.

Another Robot Kit Completed
Like the last robot I completed , I found this kit at BiteSizedBattles . I went a lot further customizing this copy. Instead of installing the robots legs off the sides I tweaked its legs and moved them to the bottom of the unit.
There were two receptacles on the back of the robot for what I presumed were for accessories. I had none available so I stuck a small piece of plastic tubing in the one at the top and a piece of greeble in the lower one. The lower one could be presumed to be some sort of accessory. I found this bit in a collection of small plastic bits.

Building Parts from your Plastic Kit Sprue
As found on Pinterest and followed back to X.
Up to this point, the author has taken the process little further than I have. However I have created greeble and other parts from my kit sprue. The post proves the old adage. One mans trash is anothers treasure. Brilliant!
This is another scratch build article: "Making Working Miniature Hinges" using plastic and scratch built components, and in small scale.

Robot Greeble
Greebles come in many forms.
Parts for homemade robots are ready available if you know where to look. Legs from the handle of a razor blade cut in half, heads from caps and torsos from small toys and plastic tubes and parts.

Robot Bits
As I have mentioned before, the author of this mechanical being sent me extra parts, that is, robot bits for me to experiment with.
Never mind the robots arms and my amature rendering. I will be using this drawing as a guide, not a blueprint for my next kit-bashed robot. I will use two arms from the spares, including one with the ray gun, The rest of the robot components will be scratch built from left-over bits of plastics.

Creating your own Greeble
Greeble is used to add effects and thus to add interesting facets to a model. So many model and special effect makers use parts from scale model kits for their greeble. I am not under no contract, nor do I have a large budget for these kits.
A Greeble DayThe greeble on the left were creating by cutting small pieces from a square tube. The greeble on the left are either under construction or have been completed using bits of left over plastic from other projects.
Greeble can be something as simple as adding geometrical shapes, such as vertical and horizontal strips to a scratch built model. Patterns can be created by stacking strips vertically or horizontally. You could also add small bits of round or square rods into some some sort of simple pattern.
Greeble can be created from just about anything. Take these two pieces of sprue and the inter-workings of a deodorant applicator.
