Hunting for Materials for your Next Project?

If you keep am open mind you can find useful materials just about everywhere. Although I am trying to keep the clutter from getting out of hand I hold on to a lot of different materials. I may not know how or when they might be used, but as long as I don't have too many and have some where to store them I will put the materials aside.

3 Lost Miniatures

Recently I was tidying up my paint station and I found these three miniatures in different phases of completion. Now that I have a new set of paint brushes and a lighted magnifier it should make it a bit eaiser to complete these.

And two more...

A Fez monkey and an old badger. With the exception of the thrid from the left in the first set of miniatures and the badger from the second set are all from Bombshell Miniatures.

Puerto Borracho, an On30 Railway

When visting this page, please say hello to the thick hombres. This railway is in On30 narrow gauge, that is a O gauge railway that runs on HO gauge or 1/87 track. The scenery is of Mexico and is fabulous, as are the loco's and train cars.

An Indominus Rex in PVC

The Indominus Rex stands approximately 50mm tall by 70mm wide and is highly detailed. This specimine is one of three in this new mini Jurassic World collection which includes the Indominus Rex, 'Blue', and a T. Rex. Hopefully I will able to get back to the Dollar Tree and pick up the two miniatures.

"Oh, Indominus wasn't bred. She was designed. She will be fifty feet long when fully grown. Bigger than the T. rex." —Henry Wu

I count four colors being used for its body and the inside of its mouth. It eyes look convincing. Take notice of the very large hind legs. Should I paint its toes the same color as its front claws?

Is Extremely Thin a Thing

Look at what I have found on Ali Express. They are being offered in 1/64 and 1/43 scales. They are little weird looking. However, they are full of detail. I like their long thin bodies. Is this a new aesthetic? I have seen multiple offerings with miniatures that are tall and very thin. I will be making posts on some of the others I have found.

Zombies Verses Plants #2

We have been down this road once before. This another rendition of Zombies Verses Plants. And as far as I am concerned these are better looking constructs than the former.

A few more of these PVC miniatures.

Some of my Miniature PVC Friends

I have had these specimens for sometime. They are not all that easy to photograph for they do not stay still (several of them have rounded bottoms). I have labeled them "Hare’s and Rabbits", not really knowing what type of creatures they are. They sort of resemble a rabbit. All I know is they stand at the average of 30mm, are moulded out of PVC plastic and are kind of sweet, in their own way.

Memory in Miniature

I had to check my posts. I am surprised that this post wasn't posted before now. A miniatures artist is archiving places where people gather in older parts of town. Many of these small coffee shops and family owned restaurants are in areas of planned urban development. So, instead of taking pictures and writing about these popular "hole in the wall" establishments she is making dioramas. Absolutely, charming little dioramas that depict the many aspects of these shops.

We have blown through the first half of this year and all seems like a blur.

The 1/100 Scale Rescue Boat Has Arrived

The instructions aren't has streight forward as I would liked and it took me a few minutes studying the instructions, studying the parts sprues, and even a glance or two at the image of the completed model.

This is a tiny model and care must be taken when removing parts from the sprue and during assemble. However, it will make for a very smart looking miniature model.

HO, 1/87 Scale Details - Hand Tools B

Model citizens must have tools in order to stay productive. I believe this is most of them.

My car mechanic has a collection of large specimens of wrenchs hung on one of his walls in his garage. I have seen others that were larger then these. Who knows how these large wrenchs are used. The three wrenchs depicted here are on the rather large size, however I often thought about modeling a wrench larger then these for a scene.
