1/87 Scale Horse and Plow and Plowmen

Like most of my collections I have had this mini-scene for sometime. I had placed this kit into a small box on a shelf next to my workbench to wait my attention.

I usually use super-glue for the kit parts. The metal parts required very little clean-up.

Thingamajig

This thingamajig was created to fill a pole building that is being built to go along side of the Wills Sheds. The open shed will need to be filled with materials, projects that have been completed and those in process. It might take a few objects and materials to fill this shed so I have taken it upon my self to build what I can. This object was primarily built from foam-core and with paper strips and few other materials was built to be set in a corner.

Detail Scribing and Greeble Creation Kit

I haven't decided on how I may use these tools. Whether I will use primarly for scribing or some of both. I do enjoy creating my own greeble and the templates will make it a bit easier to create more intricate pieces.

Shed Needs a Repair

You might have wondered about the progress of these three sheds. I had added a couple details to this shed and accidently broke them off. About this time I had started a small project of four small sheds, which I will be making a post once they have been completed. Once I have completed the second of these sheds I will glue the details back on to the structure and make a repost of the completed project.

HO Scale Desk and Chair

The information and instruction sheet for a desk and chair in 1/87 scale. This this a metal detail part and required some assembly.

Where is the chair? That is a good question. It was an easy build and I had wanted to use this in some scene. We will get there.

3 Model Power Sheds are Coming Along

Although they are easy to build I have had some fun building the three of these sheds. There is a fair bit of extra details that have been added to the kit, not to mention the details that have moulded into the structures themselves. This is where most of my excitement is coming from. Noticeing the details and then deciding on the correct colors to paint them.

This small shack’s only distinguishing feature are the wood slats used to create the door and the hardware used to connect the door it the door frame.

It may be simple designed but it has a bit of its own charm.

This shed includes several separate and molded on details. The door is unique in its design and the included windows are thin and well molded The structure includes what I assume is some sort of electrical box in which I added two pipes down to the ground. I used a .5mm rod for these. Under the front overhang there is a small electrical box and what I presume are two indicator lights. These lights, a green and red light, alternate when a message is in bound and during transmission.

I am not all that happy with the shingled roof. Perhaps I should plant a tree and let it overhang the roof a little.

This is the larger shed of the three and offers the most in the way of details. First you might have noticed that the door is rather unique in its construction. It has three windows at the top. There is also a number block identifying the building as being number 93. I need to touch up this up with another touch of paint.

The over details can be found on the sprue that accompny the kit. The partcial sprue below is one example. It includes a stove pipe, shudders, and other parts for the window.

Will's Sheds - To Complete a Scene

The two structures have been completed and all there is left to do is to add some details to complete the scene. You might have noticed the signs of the wall, Tim Speeks, Tinkerer, above the office sign. A tinkerer, in my view would have materials, parts, junk and parts, finished and unfinished projects all around. For this phase a three-sided pole barn will be added to the office side of the building. It will be crammed tight with materials and his gear. I can see his whole yard becoming full over time. Currently, I am working on a few DIY items for the addition.

Sign Inserts

I opened a long forgotten kit today and out slipped this 4 by 3.75" set of signs. These seem to be geared to "around" the railway tracks for the most part. I will have to remember to add signs to my next industrail or railway project.

Do You Remeber These?

I found the data sheet for these miniature Bottles and Jars. They are available from Scale Structures.

When searching for this page I came across a mention of Bottles and Jars so I am going to create a "Bottles and Jars" label.

My Dimensions Were Way off

I built this for a flat car and although it fits it does overhand just a bit over the sides, so I am not going to use it and have built another storage tank with smaller dimensions.

The tank is built from plastic, scraps from my scrap box. It measures 20w by 30mm high. I will make use of the tank somewhere on my layout.

Selly Go Devil Kit

I found this model on the last page, page 7, of the Selly line of products. It was their #608 Go Devil Kit and sold for $15.20.It is funny how we come back to things when the time is right. At the time I made this post I don't remember being all that interested in this small flat car when I first saw it.

I am in the lookout for small flat cars with loads since I started my building of the four short fat cars. I realize that it had been offered in HO gauge, but thought it might have converted to HOn30. Well at least I would have the crane gear to transfer to a HOn30 flat car if the body turned out to be too difficult to convert. That got me thinking, if I could come up with enough crane parts I could just fashion my own.

European Signs I Presume

I just found these signs in an unopen plastic kit. It looks like they are in French, German and English. If I ever get around to addind additional signs to my layout I might remember to make use of some of these.

The Rural Lumber Mill

Every once in-a-while I find these lost assembly instructions. This instruction sheet is to a Woodland Scenics rurual saw mill. These kits are cast from a white metal and formally what I referred to as "small projects" and collection.

I wouldn't say that it is a simple build, however it is far from being complex. I plan on using CA glue. With all the small parts I would definitely use a pair of tweesers to attach the very small parts.

Another Scratch Built Detail

Creations and materials. It is often from the small bits that my inspirations come from.

Over the years I have created many scratch built or kit bashed detail parts as needed or just on a whim.

Locomotive Detail Parts

Although these were purchased for detailing HO scale locomotives they have been being used for a verity of kit bashing projects. I don't remember the supplier, but I do remember going all in on wanting to detail my EMD F-units, which before I decided to switch to HOn30 were the first generation diesel engines I had purchased for my layout.

HO, 1/87 Scale Details - Hand Tools B

Model citizens must have tools in order to stay productive. I believe this is most of them.

My car mechanic has a collection of large specimens of wrenchs hung on one of his walls in his garage. I have seen others that were larger then these. Who knows how these large wrenchs are used. The three wrenchs depicted here are on the rather large size, however I often thought about modeling a wrench larger then these for a scene.

HO, 1/87 Scale Details - Glass Bottles

Small plastic bottles for a bar or barbershop scene. Of course you can expand the list and use these colored bottles for any scene you can think of. I do not remeber the manufacturer, however you might be able to find these specimens in a Walthers catalogue.
