Selly HO Gauge Products

Back in the day there were dozens of sources for model train products. You had sources with large product lines, especailly with companies like Selly. I don't know who took over Selly's line of products or even parts of it. It is ashame that these products are no longer available. Prehaps I am wrong about this and someone will inform me of there product line still being available, hopefully at lest in part.

Here is their line at one time sold through Browser:

These were metal castings.

Selly produced quite an extensive collection.

Hopefully, someone still produces some of this fabulous line of white metal products.

Let's have another look at Selly miniatures, shall we?

Another Set of HO Scale Miniatures

The Gang of Six. I am in process of painting these little jewels. I am having another go at them. These are from Rusty Rails miniaturers. If the truth be known I have been working on these six figures for years; always off to something new.

A Painstakingly Crafted Village Perches Atop a Wooden Tower

You really have to see this miniature scratch built scale model. Ognyan Stefanov created this utopic village, aptly named “Skyville". It is modeled in 1/87 scale and took two years to complete. The amount of detail is astounding.

A Bag of Metal HO Scale Details

I just received my order from eBay; a bag of random metal HO scale detail parts. I have no idea if they were hand-casted, but they do have the look as being retrograde detail parts.

There are to my count, thirteen figures, both male and female, fourteen platform seats, a few architectural pieces, a shovel, barrel, cast-iron stove, ETC. There are a few parts that have perked my curiosity. They seem to be parts for a small flatcar of some sort.

The Miniatures Calendar

The Miniatures Calendar has been existence April 2011 and has featured one small miniature scene each day since then. The author, at least, makes some use of Preiser figures. I cannot vouch for the size of his miniatures, but I am guessing that they with HO or N-gauge.

Life Like HO Gauge Diminutive People

These eight HO figures are manufactured by Life Like and are hand painted. They don’t look too bad in the packaging, but if you planning on placing them up front on your layout, I have found that most “hand-painted” figures in this scale will need some touch-up and added details.

THe figures are cast from sort of semi-rubbery like plastic.

Salvation Army Band

This is another one of those 1/87 miniatures collections that I recently unearthed, finding it at the bottom of a box of miscellaneous HO gauge model railroad things that I had packed away. As you can see, from the packaging, it was offered my Thomas miniatures, a now defunct suppliers of HO gauge figures. The set includes four figures: three male figures with instruments and one-woman figure.

1.87 Scale Elephant

I found this single 1/87 elephant figure among my HO gauge figures. I remember picking him up with a few other miscellaneous figures at a local train show. I didn’t pay much for the lot. As you can see he needs a little touch up paint to make him more realistic.

Railroad Shunters and Other Railroad Personal

In the United States someone who works in a train yard switching cars or engines is called a switcher, while in Great Britain and Australia called a shunter, or a yard pilot. Prieser’s #14105, Railroad Shunters includes six 1/87 shunters.

Railroad Engineers

On the far left there two 1/85 scale metal figures from Labelle, their #LBL7009, a diesel engineer and a fireman. The figure in the center is a Weston’s #1244, “Engineer Waving”, another 1/87 scale metal figure. To the right of this figure is what I believe is a Bachman engineer, while the figure on the far right is cast of metal and of unknown origin. This is one I painted.

Other Railroad Workers

The packaged figure is another 1/87 scale metal figure from Weston, #1204, Station Master and the other two are Bachman and cast from plastic (polystyrene?).

Prieser Foresters

Prieser’s #10042, Foresters or otherwise known as Lumberjacks in the US, contains six 1/87 scale figures in various poses and employed in various tasks. There is a separate two-man saw that will keep two of figures employed for a while.

Two Other Figures Employed at the Same Occupation.

The package includes two metal figures, a stack of logs, two tree stumps and an ax. These 1/87 scale figures are from the now defunct Musket Miniatures company.

Prieser Wanderers

Prieser’s #10290: Wanders. Six figures, several with knapsacks. We have caught sight of several of these figures earlier while they were out exploring the artifacts at the Ferris home.

The Grill Party

Prieser’s #10073: Grill Party contains six figures, a grill, lounge chair, patio table and chair. This set could be combined with a 1/87 scale track home, a pool and scratch built patio.

Prieser #14016, Delivery Men with Loads

This set includes six 1/87 scale figures and various objects. There are two boxes, milk can, and a hand truck. There are three figures that are in uniforms which could be used as the recommended delivery men. The other three in various poses could be used on a loading dock, warehouse, plant or factory, or employed in come other occupation. For instance there is one milk can and a figure that seems to reaching for the can. This figure could be used on a farm or milk station.

Other Warehouse Men

These are two of the four figures that came with what I believe was a Concor #0002-009058, a HO scale, Warehouse/ Freight Transfer station kit.

Prieser, Standing Truckers

This is Prieser’s #10036 “Standing Truck Drivers”. Six truck drivers, most of them in a pose indicating that they are helping other truckers with their task of backing in. There is one loafing trucker with his hands on coveralls that seems to be a favorite of many.

More Truckers and...30 unpainted miniature figures, Priesers #16335, truckers, car drivers, and passengers.

Out Shopping-Prieser #10121

This set includes 6 1/87 scale figures with bags, boxes, packages and a separate shopping cart. Had they just come from the market? The market scene would need to be extended a bit; perhaps with a Woodland Scenics Farmers Market or an Ernie's Fruit Stand kit.

At the Market

This Prieser set: #10056; “At the Market” includes 3-1/87 scale figures, a large umbrella with stand, market tables, and boxes of produce. The figures include 1 market vendor and 2 shoppers.

Boat Lending

Here is another Prieser figure set in 1/87. This set is numbered #10072, Boat Lending. These miniatures are manufactured in polystyrene. There are three row boats with oars, two rowers of the opposite sex and the yachtsman. As the woman's arms are in such a pose she could be coupled in the same boat as the man.

When my wife and I moved into our new home I had big plans for my model train layout. I now had the room for a room-sized layout (assuming no one wanted to move back home). No one has, but I still haven’t gotten too far with my plans. These row-boaters will be added to a lake scene one of these days.

1/87 Prieser Stock Workers

I don’t have the extensive collection of Prieser figures like Hugh, but to complement Hugh’s recent Prieser posts I have decided to make a few of my own.

Prieser has an extensive line of miniatures. These figures are in 1/87 scale, but can be found in other sizes and scales. They highly detailed polystyrene miniatures and are carefully painted. This set is Prieser’s #10294: “ Stock Worker with Forklifts”.

My Civil War Collection: Another View

Some time ago I made a post that featured a set of 1/87 scale American Civil War miniatures in various stages of being painted. Recently I found an image that included the whole extent of my HO gauge American Civil War collection. Granted, it is not a very good image, but it is the only one I have that depicts most of what I purchased when these miniatures were still available. I don’t believe K & L is still in business. Whether their molds were sold and some other company is now producing their line of products seems doubtful.

Atlas 1/87 Scale Figures

I recently found these Atlas 1/87 figures while rummaging through a box of my model railroad stuff. You might remember my making a post on 1/87 scale figures where I featured some of the same Atlas figures. It seems I have duplicates. However, that is not a bad thing on a large layout.

The figures could be used to depict characters in the 1940’s or 1950’s eras. These figures, six to a runner, are molded in a dense flesh colored plastic.
