Thingamajig

This thingamajig was created to fill a pole building that is being built to go along side of the Wills Sheds. The open shed will need to be filled with materials, projects that have been completed and those in process. It might take a few objects and materials to fill this shed so I have taken it upon my self to build what I can. This object was primarily built from foam-core and with paper strips and few other materials was built to be set in a corner.

Detail Scribing and Greeble Creation Kit

I haven't decided on how I may use these tools. Whether I will use primarly for scribing or some of both. I do enjoy creating my own greeble and the templates will make it a bit easier to create more intricate pieces.

HO Scale Desk and Chair

The information and instruction sheet for a desk and chair in 1/87 scale. This this a metal detail part and required some assembly.

Where is the chair? That is a good question. It was an easy build and I had wanted to use this in some scene. We will get there.

Will's Sheds - To Complete a Scene

The two structures have been completed and all there is left to do is to add some details to complete the scene. You might have noticed the signs of the wall, Tim Speeks, Tinkerer, above the office sign. A tinkerer, in my view would have materials, parts, junk and parts, finished and unfinished projects all around. For this phase a three-sided pole barn will be added to the office side of the building. It will be crammed tight with materials and his gear. I can see his whole yard becoming full over time. Currently, I am working on a few DIY items for the addition.

Twenty Diminutive Souls

They are small, that is for sure. I would say they are close to 1/100 scale and they do not have too much in the way of details to their faces and fingers. Well for what they cost I wasn't expecting too much. With a little touch-up paint I can use them to fill in some scene. In the background of a crowd or possibly somewhere in the backgound of my layout.

I know I have been slacking on my posts. I got pretty close to my goal of fifteen posts this month. I haven't been getting any projects completed, although I do have couple on the workbench that are under construction.

Alligator Resin

Cast from resin this little cartoonish looking alligator measures approximately 57 long by 25mm wide.

I have different ideas as to what should be included on my model railroad layout. To add just a hint of whimsy he or is it a she will be added in the swamp on my layout.

The Rural Lumber Mill

Every once in-a-while I find these lost assembly instructions. This instruction sheet is to a Woodland Scenics rurual saw mill. These kits are cast from a white metal and formally what I referred to as "small projects" and collection.

I wouldn't say that it is a simple build, however it is far from being complex. I plan on using CA glue. With all the small parts I would definitely use a pair of tweesers to attach the very small parts.

More "Boxed" Signs

Signs printed on the bottom of this Con-Cor kit box.

"Boxed" Signs

My first post of 2025.I hope you had a great holiday season.

Back in the day kit boxes were decorated with signs for your layout. Con-cor was a good source of these signs. Other manufacturers included an insert with a selection of signs.I am thinking POLA here. Many of the signs in my collection are from these sources.

Cardstock Flooring

I don't remember the exact treatment this piece of cardstock recieved or its intended purpose. I do remember scoring boards and using a light color for the base, followed with what looks like a couple of dry-brushings with darker colors. With a height of just six feet I am guesing I was planning on useing with element for interor flooring. By using sturdyer cardstock you could also use this technique to create a wooden fence.

HO, 1/87 Scale Details - Glass Bottles

Small plastic bottles for a bar or barbershop scene. Of course you can expand the list and use these colored bottles for any scene you can think of. I do not remeber the manufacturer, however you might be able to find these specimens in a Walthers catalogue.

HO, 1/87 Scale Details - Shop Equipment

From left to right: Edger, Ginder, Lathe, Drill press, and unidentified shop equipment. Manufacturer unknown. Metel castings. Some of the pieces need some additional paint. I have seen sets with additional components.

HO, 1/87 Scale Details - Pallets

Woodland Scenics white metel goodness. These two unprimed castings are from Woodland Scenis "15 Assorted Skids" kit.

Two additional painted castings from other kits. Old and rotted ties and rusted tie plates laid out on a skip. The other skid looks like it was loaded with junk.

Several finished skids in all their goodness. Skips are primarily constructed of maple and oak and will stand-up to some ware. Throw a few up-against the structure, stack a few on the loading dock, or use them to skid your own goods. They were fun to paint and weather,

Roofing Materials 2

Having a wide variety of materials on hand is important to me. If I have the materials on hand I can get started on a project straight away. Anticipating future projects is always been a game of chance for me, so I have taken in many types of materials over the years and have just started to make use of these diverse materials. Inventorying and knowing what I have on hand now dictates what I will be building in the future.

These plastic roof panels are leftovers from some kitbash project and resemble galvanized corrugated roofing. I have enough for a small out building and or a small lean-to structure. This roofing would look well on any type of structure, but I was thing of a small old grimy brick structure way back in some industrial scene.

I have featured this material before. Scalloped roofing I believe will look great on a board and batten structure. I have enough of this material for a few small shacks and sheds.

Is this Model Citizen being Arrased by the Police?

It seems the police have taken notice of this character and believe his presence is a bit suspicious. The vechicle is from Matchbox and the figure is a capeule toy.

National Geographic: Weathering

National Geographic features a page and a set of images that describe the process of how nature weathers all sorts objects.

"Water, ice, acids, salts, plants, animals, and changes in temperature are all agents of weathering. Weathering describes the process of materials on Earth breaking down."

Modelers mimic weathering in a number of ways. They represent aging, dirt and grime with paint and washes. To mimic aging they may use paint and washes or they may introduce aging during the building process. Broken boards, missing windows, sagging roofs are all methods that the builder can incorporate into the building process. These methods are usully more effective in representing the passage of time and neglect than paint and washe methods.

Truly Inspirational Rust and Decay

The work of Eddie Putera is truly inspiring, he makes incredibly detailed scale models and miniature scenes, often depicting rusting and decaying things. Although you will be able to view a few of his creations on his Instagram page you will need an Instagram account to take in all of his published work.

HO Gauge Old Timer Wood Chip & Scrap Car #1501

I have made a few related posts about the these 3 in 1 kits. I recently found this instruction sheet. On one side MDC illustrates the basic construction, while the reverse includes additional notes on using the supplied parts for kit-bashing.

It is ashame that I didn't become aware of these 3 in 1 kits sooner. Many were "out of print" by the time I became aware of them.
