A Medieval Village in N-gauge

The author used sheets of styrofoam for the base of his diorama.

Most of the miniatures for this n-gauge diorama were printed on a 3-d printer. The author used several different styles of medieval structures and mixed and matched the parts of these to create a verity of differnt structures.

Back in August 2017 I made a post on a HO Gauge Trackside Shanty with Stove, by Stewart from a line of products formally by Virnex Industries. I listed a few of their other products that were listed on the packaging. I have since obtained a longer list of products that once were made by Virnex Industries and supposingly taken over by Stewart.

The Barge: Episode 1- Scratch Building with Polystyrene

A very informative tutorial on the creation of a n-gauge barge. The author used the dimensions of a real prototype for his model.

I have heard that working with polystyrene is easy and from my own limited experience it is rather easy, but it does requires patience. How often have I messed a project up by not being patient?

The Miniatures Calendar

The Miniatures Calendar has been existence April 2011 and has featured one small miniature scene each day since then. The author, at least, makes some use of Preiser figures. I cannot vouch for the size of his miniatures, but I am guessing that they with HO or N-gauge.

Very Fine Screening (Materials)

I wasn’t able to get a better shot of this material, but it has some very fine weave that might suitable for HO gauge window screening or N-gauge chain-link fencing. The five by seven inch bag was used for wedding favors and was left left behind at a wedding I recently attended.

Ratio N-gauge, #226 Pump / Boiler House

I am very impressed with the quality and the amount of detail the kit parts contain. The kit is scaled to 1:148, 2mm, that is British n-gauge. The kit included eight plastic runners. Two for the chimney assemble, two for the stone and brick pump / boiler house structure, one that includes parts for a wooden shed an open rectangle shaped steal tank, one for the roof sections, one sprue includes wood trim parts, one holds spouting, and the last contains some miscellaneous detail parts, for instance, several wall mounted supply cabinets. In addition, scattered through-out on many of the sprue are other various auxiliary details.

Memories of Cheedale

This twenty-minute film was made by the Manchester Model Railway Society depicting their 2mm Finescale model railway which was called 'Chee Tor'. The film was originally filmed in 16mm in the early nineties and was recently digitized . The video includes some very nice narration and sound effects.

N-gauge, 6 Ton G. W. R. Scammell

This another specimen of a n-gauge (1:148) scale Langley Miniature model. This is a six-ton Scammell Mechanical Horse a three-wheel lorry with a covered wagon. The kit includes fourteen white metal components. There is a seated driver in the cab and being as small has it is it is full of lovely detail.

There is Small and there is Minuscule

These Langley miniatures are in n-gauge (1:148) scale and are cast in white metal. These are my first n-gauge figures and they are very small, they are approximately 10mm high. Although I do own a n-gauge locomotive and tender and some n-gauge track my stock of n-gauge things is very limited.

Disney Pixar "Up" N-Gauge Miniature Carl’s House

Disney Pixar’s animated movie "Up" was the inspiration behind this n-gauge miniature. Carl's House was created from paper and according to the author took a few weekends to complete. It does amaze me the things you can create with paper. It is a shame that the template for this particular model is no longer available; however, there is a version of the model that comes with the balloons that can be downloaded here.

See the same model, but in 1/48 scale.
