The Tombs of the Thoroughgood’s

The worlds captains of crime were summoned to secret meeting. They met in the private tombs of the Thoroughgood’s. It was a Who’s Who of organized crime. Professor Moriarty had summoned them to discuss the changing times. The new era was quickly approaching where the public and law enforcement would no longer put up with such shenanigans. The world was becoming more respectable. This new era called for a new strategy. Business is business! The list of the distinguished guests is as follows:

  • "Lord of Strange Deaths
  • Daughter of the Dragon
  • Grand Vampire or Paris and Mademoiselle Irna Vep…
  • Doctor Nikola of Australia and Madame Sara of the Strand
  • Miss Margaret Frelwany and the Hovton Creeper
  • Doctor Mabuse of Berlin and Fraulein Alraune ten Brincken
  • Arthur Raffles of the Albony and his, ah friend, Mr. Manders
  • Theophraste Lupin and Josephine
  • Countess Cagliostro…
  • Doctor Jack Quartz of New York and Princess Zanoni…
  • Rupert, count of Hentzau and Miss Irene Adler"

The Pineapple Ale-House-February 1808

“The Pineapple had once been the refuge and hiding place of thief’s and murderers. The current owner thought that its notorious past was somehow advantageous to his business and decorated the walls of his establishment with pictures of those criminals that had been hung and of those who had yet to be. You entered the establishment from a street door and then down three greasy steps. These steps led to a gloomy parlor decorated as previously mentioned.

The Pineapple had its own character and aroma. Its character from the assorted throng that frequented the place. Many were without scruples and notorious characters. The aroma was a combination of the smell of stale tobacco and spilt ale, the natural fragrance of its unwashed cliental, and from the unholy stink of the Fleet River, which had been used as a sewer for countless years. The Fleet ran beneath the Pineapple’s foundations and the Pineapple was generally supposed to be sinking into it.”

Two Old Geezers

As I mentioned in an earlier post, I have add two old men to my collection of miniatures. They both are additions to my small collection of fantasy miniatures. The one, the slight fellow with the lantern can be seen leading new disciples to their sage. The other miniature the bulky and rotund gent could pass for Charles Dickens-The Ghost of Christmas Past.

Two New Miniature Categories

I am waiting on my first order from Brigade Games. I ordered a set of Artizan Designs’ Sky Pirates, a Brigade command figure to go along with the set, and two other Brigade figures. The other two figures are of old men. The Brigade calls the one the Jolly Old Man and the other is old man carrying a lantern.

The new categories are Sky Pirates and Rocket Men, and Old Men. Sky Pirates and Rocket Men will come under the category of Pulp and the Old Men Distinguished Gentleman will be a sub-type under whatever category that the miniature seems to fit. These two old men miniatures will be added to my collection of Fantasy miniatures as they both display characteristics associated with this category.

Five Extraordinary Mugs I Must Have

Hinterland Miniatures offers a fine line of miniatures and there are many of their miniatures that have caught my eye. However, their set of five bulky pulp characters is one of those “gota-have”. The fact that they are bit bulky, the one illustrated next to a ruler, measures nearly three inches tall, is one selling point, but it was the quality of the sculpts that has sold me. Just look at the mugs on these guys. You wouldn't want to get on the wrong side of these guys. Although it won’t stop me from purchasing them, perhaps it might be a good idea to keep my distance, all together.
