This Hot Wheels Mercedes 540K has seen Better days

This one of the three vehicles that had been found while I was digging a new spot for flowers and herbs. As you can see it is in bad shape. The axels are shot, it is missing a chrome raditor, and the roof.

This is the Mercedes 540K.¹ First introduced in 1982 and outfitted with the wide white walled wheel set, she was "glamorous, sophisticated, and at one time quite popular".

What needs fixing. Both axils are shot and the white rimmed tires are no longer white. The whole chromed lights and raditor assembly is missing. Perhaps I should screen that area where the vehicles were found. Lastly, the body is riddled with spots of rust, with a few areas almost rusted through the paint and metal.

Although I might disessemble this model so that I can clean it more effectively I don't see myself restoring the piece. With two missing and unsourced parts, it is more trouble than its worth to me.

1941 Cadillac Convertible Coupe

This is a 1941 Cadillac, Series 62 Convertible Coupe in miniature. I had hoped to had purchased a 1/64 scale figure for this miniature before now. The miniature figure is a heavy set gentlemen (listed as a cab-driver). I had also planned to add a policemen standing aside the vehicle writing a ticket. Well, I will have to put that on my list of purchases for this year.

Another Vehicle for the Gas Lands

As you can see I really do not like having to repaint a vehicle if there is no need to do so. Besides, I do like the way they look right out of their packaging.

In addition to the machine gun up front the nippers will grab at anything it comes in contact with. It will really do some hurt, especially on a human torso.

Although I do have a few more conversions on the workbench, this is number four in my fleet off Gas Lands ready vehicles. Not that I am in any hurry. The design of the gameboard hasn't even got past the brain-storming stage.

Weapons of Carnage

I have been waiting for this sprue for a short while. It's componnets look good and there is no flash that I can see. With its manned buggy and motorcycle I will add two more vehicles to my Gas Lands collection and the first three figures.

I look forward to assembling these two models and to see where I can make use of the accompanied accessories.
