Four Yo-Kai Watch Game Tokens

This is my second Yo-Kai Watch related post. I recently came across the four of these game tokens. They are from Yo-Kai Watch Monopoly. Yo-Kai Watch Monopoly is for little kids and these Yo-Kai Watch tokens are Yo-Kai Watch characters.

These game tokens are made from a hard plastic and stand approximately two inches tall. The characters are (from left to right):
Jibanyan, Komajiro, Komasan, and Whisper.

More Historical Board Gaming Supplement Parts

What is nice about the Historical Board Gaming site is that you may order supplement parts from many different versions of Axis and Allies. I currently own a copy of Axis and Allies 1941, but I was able to add some unique pieces to my game from different versions of the game.

I made the order to obtain several sets of dice for other games, but since Historical Board Gaming were offering some of their parts on sale I decided to purchase a few of these game pieces. Some of the more unique pieces that I purchased were a set of American WWII P-38 fighters, several Liberty transport ships, and a set of Japanese Type 95 ha-Go tanks.

These parts will be a welcome addition to the game, as the game no longer provides enough pieces to go around. Instead you must use markers to represent multiple pieces. Markers are a good thing in that they keep the very congested board from becoming impossible to work with. However, it is still nice to have additional pieces to pull from, when the need arises.

Axis and Allies Land Units

Table Tactics produces several Axis and Allies expansion sets. These expansion sets are distributed through Fair Play Games. The expansion sets include a total of 48 Infantry and armor units. If you are in the market for land units that factors out to about four cents apiece. The set includes various types of tanks and infantry units to add to those that were already supplied with your game. The various pieces could also be used to bring additional capabilities to your game play.

Classic Monopoly Game Refills

I haven't made a post on this topic for some time. However, after having played Monopoly a few times I have noticed that we have continually ran short of houses. Here is a source for refills for Monopoly money, tokens, houses, and hotels.

My Pirates of Mysterious Island Crew Members

The following crew attributes are from Whizkids crew cards. Typically each pack contains at least two and sometimes three crewmembers. Out of the seven packs of the pirates game that I have purchased I have collected sixteen crewmembers. The crewmembers listed are from three different versions, and from six different nations.

If it hits the controller of the stricken ship replaces one of her masts with a fire mast. Thereafter, at the beginning of every turn they must roll a die. If they roll a 6, they remove the fire mast, but upon rolling a 1-3, another fire mast is added. This continues until all her masts are fire masts, at which time the ship must be scuttled.

Upon reaching her home island or a fort she may remove all the fire masts as a free action.

Pirates of Mysterious Islands-First Impressions

My Pirates of Mysterious Islands games arrived in the mail the other day. Here are a few the things that I have noticed about this Whizkids, eighth rendition of this construable strategy game.

Although the basic and extended rules are basically the same, there are a few changes to the rules for Pirates of Mysterious Islands (more about that in a separate post).

Pirates of the Spanish Main included six different ships; Pirates of Mysterious Island has ten different styles of ships and two types of Sea Monsters. Pirates of Mysterious Island as added the following types of ships:

  • 2-Mast Blockade Runner
  • 4-Mast Schooner
  • 3-Mast Submarine
  • 2-Mast Submarine

The sea monsters cannot carry crew, but they can carry treasure and fire cannon. As far as the submarines are concerned there is a Nautilus submarine model, however is seems to quite rare.

Pirates of the Spanish Main had three protagonists-England, Spain, and Pirates, whereas Pirates of Mysterious Islands has added the following France, America, and Mercenary combatants to the list.

The game pack also contained a check list of game pieces that one might find in Pirates of Mysterious Islands. There are a total of 137 different tokens listed in the check list. Crew, ships, special treasure pieces, and islands, are listed here (More about these tokens in a forthcoming post). All are listed by their availability status, that is, Treasure/Generic, Common, Uncommon, Rare, and Super rare.

One last note, there is also a “message in a bottle”, a special set of four messages, that when collected and sent in with the original packaging and receipts, the people from Whizkids will send you an exclusive ship(these games are no longer being published).

My message reads: “Our course has brought us to these uncharted isles…”

Professor Plum

Professor Plum is another miniature found on the Game Crafter. Professor Plum is 43mm in size and is game token from the board game Clue.

From the Characters of the Board Game Clue page “Professor Plum would have been said to be the smartest man on the planet if he wasn't so scatterbrained”.

Several 43mm Miniature Finds

For the collector of plastic miniatures, I recently came across these 43mm miniatures. There are seven of these alien critters cast in different colors and poses. These miniatures are available from the Game Crafter, which as their name implies supply game pieces, tokens, game boards, and other game parts.

The miniature illustrated here is Game Crafters Brown Alien.

5000 Year Old Game Tokens

Archaeologists have found what seem to be the oldest game board tokens that are thought to be at least 5000 years old.

The tokens are fashioned out of stone and are painted in red, green, and blue. The game tokens represent pigs, dogs, and pyramids while others are shaped in what might be considered more generic shapes such as cylinders, dice, and flat, round discs.

What the game board may have looked like and how the game proceeded is any ones guess. No rules for this game have been discovered.

Do any of my readers have any ideas on how a game using these tokens could proceed? How would the game board be designed? How many players would be involved?

Historical Board Game Tokens

The supplement tokens I had ordered from Historical Board Games arrived by post the other day. The tokens are very similar in appearance, color, and quality as those that were supplied with the Axis and Allies 1941 board game. I ordered five infantry pieces for each player and a set of piece markers. The piece markers are larger than those supplied with the game and will need to be colored with a marker to represent one, three, and five unit markers.

The tokens arrived a few days later than I had hoped. We played Axis and Allies the other day without these tokens. We made do and used pennies for the one unit markers. I wonder if it was really worthwhile to have sent for these tokens when we evidently were able to get by with out them.

Blog News-New Label-Game Tokens

I have deleted the “Monopoly Tokens” label and have added Game Tokens. I thought that this new label name “Game Tokens “would give me more latitude in the types of posts I could make on this topic.

Axis and Allies 1941 Supplement Parts

I set up the game the other day. It took me near twenty minutes to place all the units for all the nations. I wanted to get a feel on how the pieces were deployed on the board. Like I had mentioned, in an early post, the manufacturer does not provide as many game pieces as they once did, here is a breakdown:

The idea is to use the supplied cardboard unit counters. The problem I had that there were not enough of the one unit counters for the initial set-up and I forced to make use a multiple unit counter in its place. I fell short with the placement of infantry units.

Recently, I came upon a site that supplies supplement piece for Axis and Allies. The Historical Game Boarding site offers pieces for several different versions of Axis and Allies, including Axis and Allies 1941. Pieces can be purchased separately or they can be purchased in battle packs.

By choosing other versions of Axis and Allies you can find pieces in more authentic castings, like the Bf-109 Fighter or Sdkfz-251 Personal Carrier for Germany or the P38 fighter or the M4 Sherman tank for the US.

How a Charm Bracelet Inspired the Monopoly Games Tokens

The article “How a Charm Bracelet Inspired the Monopoly Tokens” tells how Charles Darrow, the creator of the Monopoly game, nieces were fond of using pieces from there charm bracelets as game tokens when they played Monopoly. It seems Parker Brothers liked the idea and decided to include charm like tokens in their first release of Monopoly.

The article goes on to tell of other tokens that have been used throughout the years. The last photograph on the page displays some vintage 1950’s tokens, some of these I vaguely remember playing with a child.

Monopoly in the News

Here are some recent news articles on the game of Monopoly

Monopoly Tokens have Changed over the Years

The article recounts on the tokens that have been included in Monopoly over the years, starting back in 1935. It was interesting to read on the many different tokens that have come and went over the years.

Monopoly among new Adventure Time Games in the Works

Cartoons Network’s is releasing an Adventure Time special collector’s edition of Monopoly. Now they have us colleting Monopoly games. And of course you realize, that games in their original wrapping will be worth more than those that have been played. This edition features 22 locations from the Land of Ooo and six collectable tokens. I thought the edition was a collectable? You mean you would purchase the game just for its "collectable" tokens?

Monopoly Tokens

I should have included this material in with my post on Monopoly editions, but alas, here it is on its own. Wikia provides a page that describes Monopoly tokens that have been found in different editions of Monopoly throughout the years. The Wiki also provides information and images of the tokens that are found in special editions of Monopoly, in which on my last post on this topic, I did not know existed.

Monopoly Token Alternatives

Recently the people at Hasbro had the public vote on a new token for their board game, Monopoly. It is official; the iron will be replaced with a cat. I wonder whether Hasbro will allow users to send in for the updated piece and will they allow users to send back the iron so that it can be scraped?

I wonder how many people will take the time to send in for the updated token? Perhaps the iron should be kept as a memento to days gone by...How many know what an iron is and what it was used used for? Who irons any more anyway?

I have seen other tokens being provided in special editions and have found a few sources for alternative token pieces, but none of them are like the six alternative tokens being written about on the 6 New Monopoly Tokens We Really Need on Smosh Pit.
