Robinson Crusoe’s first dwelling place was not fit for his
settlement and he contrived to find a more suitable place for his abode. Crusoe
considered the following when searching for a proper dwelling place:
- Health and freshwater
- Shelter from heat and sun
- Security from ravenous creatures whether they be man or beast
- A view to the sea, so that he might observe any passing ships
